Background: One of the skills that students should possess in the information age is the sense of
questioning and curiosity. Developing this skill among students is one of the important goals of education.
Objective: The present study investigated the effect of a dialectical storytelling program on improving the questioning skills of elementary school students in Urmia.
Method: This study was a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test with control group .The statistical population of this study consisted of elementary school students of Urmia city in academic year 97-98. Two schools were selected from the schools of Urmia city (one school with a class of 30 students the experimental group and another school with a class of 30 students the control group) by purposeful sampling. In one of the classes in the lesson of the traditional teaching essay lesson, the other in the lesson of the same lesson in dialectical story telling. The Multidimensional Nature OF Qu’est Motivation scale was used for data collection. The data Were analyzed using covariance analysis.
Results: The data were analyzed using covariance analysis. The results showed that dialectical storytelling program is effective in improving students questioning.
Conclusion: Dialectical storytelling training plays an important role in improving students questioning thinking skills. This teaching method can be used by teachers in schools in the country to develop students questioning skills.
