[English]

The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of the body image therapy protocol on the identity styles and self-esteem of women applying for cosmetic surgery. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group and a 2-month follow-up phase. The statistical population included women aged 20 to 40 referred to body beauty clinics in Tehran in 1402. In this research, 30 people were selected by purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 people) and a control group (15 people). The experimental group received 10 sessions of the 60-minute psychotherapeutic protocol of body image recognition. At the same time, the control group did not receive any intervention. The questionnaires used in this research included identity-style questionnaires (Brzezonski, 1992) and self-esteem scales (Rosenberg, 1965). To analyze the data, the method of analysis of variance with repeated measurements was used using software (SPSS-26). The results showed that the psychotherapeutic protocol of body image recognition on identity styles for informational style (p < 0.01, F1.25 = 8.936), normative style (p < 0.01, F1.25 = 11.723) and the avoidance style (p < 0.01, F1.25 = 11.602) and self-esteem (p < 0.01, F1.27 = 13.289) of women applying for cosmetic surgery have a significant effect. Based on research findings research, it can be concluded that the training of psychotherapy protocol of body image recognition using techniques such as strengthening body image, cultivating positive visualization, positive body exercise, and cultivating self-management as an efficient method can improve identity styles and promote self-esteem. Women's breath should be used.
