One of the hallmarks of adolescence is the desire to gain new experiences and try high-risk behaviors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of social adequacy training and emotion regulation skills on readiness for impatience, problematic use of mobile phones and tendency to high-risk behaviors in adolescents. This experimental study was a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all male high school students in Shahroud in the academic year 2022-2021, from which a sample of 45 people was selected by available sampling method. Experimental and control groups were randomly equated. Social adequacy and emotion regulation training were conducted in 8 sessions of 45 minutes in experimental groups 1 and 2, respectively. The control group did not receive any training. Data were collected using the Zadeh Mohammadi et al. (2011) Youth Risk Questionnaire, Falman et al. (2013) Preparedness Questionnaire, and the Janaro et al. (2007) Traumatic Phone Usage Scale and analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that the experimental groups in the post-test phase had a significant decrease in terms of high-risk behaviors, readiness for impatience and harmful use of mobile phones (P <0.05). Also, social adequacy training was more effective than emotion regulation skills. According to the obtained results, it can be said that social adequacy training countered boredom by modulating emotions and by increasing self-control, compared to emotion regulation training, had a greater effect on not using trauma. Mobile and has a tendency to risky behaviors.
