The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-care behaviors training on health-promoting behaviors and hemoglobin A1C control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The study population consists of 30 patients with type 2 diabetes at the parsian Diabetes clinic in mashhad city that in the study of clinical trials was Purposive selected and classified according to the random method of classification in two intervention groups (15 people) and control (15 people). The designed group training program in the intervention group was implemented in 6 sessions of 30 minutes for 12 weeks; While the control group received the usual care of the clinic. Data were analyzed using a health-promoting lifestyle form, demographic and disease information, and a revised scale of diabetes self-care behaviors and a glycosylated hemoglobin test at baseline and 12 weeks later, using Multivariate analysis of covariance (MONCOVA). The results showed that in the post-test and follow-up stages, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the health-promoting lifestyle variables and hemoglobin A1C; That is, training in health-promoting behaviors has significantly reduced hemoglobin A1C and increased health-promoting behaviors. By implementing self-care training programs using various methods and training with the help of experts, the quality of life and self-care of people with diabetes without self-care behaviors can be improved and their blood sugar levels can be reduced.
