The main purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between sense of humor and mental disorders in Pre-University students in Isfahan. The statistical population comprises all the Pre-University students’ Isfahan in the academic year 2006-2007. 214 students (105 girls and 109 boys) were selected as the sample group using randomized cluster sampling. The Sense of Humor Questionnaire (SHQ) and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) were administered. The results of Pearson’s correlation coefficient showed that there is a meaningful and negative relation between the global of sense of humor with rate of global severity index and dimensions of somatization, obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, phobic, paranoid ideation, psychoticism and additional Items but there is not a meaningful relation between the global of sense of humor and hostility dimension. Also, comparison of the means showed that girls and boys were not significantly different in the global of sense of humor, rate of global severity index and obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, paranoid ideation and psychoticism dimensions but, they were significantly different in the somatization, depression, anxiety, phobic and additional Items.
