[English]

Adolescent girls with body dissatisfaction experience psychological problems. Psychological interventions are necessary to reduce these problems. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and body-focused gratitude meditation (BFGM) on self-criticism and fear of negative evaluation in adolescent girls with body dissatisfaction. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of this study included all adolescent girls with moderate to severe body dissatisfaction in Rasht in the first semester of the 2024 academic year (N=116). A sample of 48 adolescents met the inclusion criteria for the study, who were screened and randomly assigned to three groups: ACT (16 adolescents), BFGM (16 adolescents), and control(16 adolescents). Data collection instruments were Oosthuizen et al., Dysmorphic Concern(2004), Thampson and Zuroff 's Levels Of Self-Criticism(2004), and Leary Short Form Fear of Negative Evaluation(1983) Scales. Analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data. Based on the results, both interventions were effective in reducing body dissatisfaction, self-criticism, and fear of negative evaluation (p<0.01). No significant difference was observed between the effectiveness of the two interventions; However, in fear of negative evaluation and comparative self-criticism, the lasting effect of ACT was greater than BFGM, and both interventions did not have a lasting effect on reducing internal self-criticism. Based on the research findings, ACT and BFGM can be used to reduce self-criticism and fear of negative evaluation in adolescent girls with body dissatisfaction.
