[English]

This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between exposure to domestic violence & depression with the mediation of sleep problems and moderation of self-compassion among girl adolescents. This is descriptive correlational research. The study population included all girl adolescents aged 13 to 16 who were student in Tehran in 1402, 223 people were selected as a sample using convenience sampling method, and responded to the Child Exposure to Domestic Violence Scale (Edleson, 2008), The Kutcher Adolescent Depression Scale (Leblanc et al., 2002), Self-Compassion Scale-Short Form (Raes et al., 2011) & Mini Sleep Questionnaire (Zomer, 1985). Pearson correlation and multiple regression Hayes (Models 4 & 7) in SPSS24 were used to analyze the data. The results showed that sleep problems mediate the relationship between exposure to domestic violence and depression, and the relation of exposure to domestic violence and depression with mediation of sleep problems is moderated by self-compassion. Therefore, adolescents with high levels of self-compassion experience less sleep problems when exposure to domestic violence and as a result may be less depressed. These findings are useful for understanding the complex mechanism of exposure to domestic violence effects on depression and have practical implications for preventive and therapeutic interventions for adolescents' depression.
