Divorce, as one of the most stressful life events, is associated with substantial psychological consequences, particularly for women. The present study aimed to examine the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between social support and emotional intelligence with depressive symptoms among divorced women. This research employed a descriptive–correlational design using structural equation modeling. The statistical population comprised all divorced women residing in Yazd City in 2025, from whom 200 participants were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support developed by Zimet et al. (1988), the Schering Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (2003), and the Beck Depression Inventory. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 27 and SmartPLS version 3.
The results indicated that both social support and emotional intelligence were directly and negatively associated with depressive symptoms, while positively predicting resilience. Moreover, resilience played a significant mediating role in the relationships between social support and emotional intelligence with depressive symptoms. Overall, the findings suggest that resilience functions as a key psychological mechanism through which social support and emotional intelligence exert their protective effects in reducing depressive symptoms among divorced women.
