[English]

The aim of the present study was to investigate the structural model of nomophobia based on maladaptive behavioral emotion regulation strategies with the mediating role of loneliness in female adolescents. The present study was descriptive-correlational using structural equation modeling. The statistical population was female adolescent’s high schools in Tehran city in winter of 2026. The sample size was selected based on Kline model (2023) and with cluster sampling methodof 300 female adolescents. Using the nomophobia questionnaire (NMP-Q) of Yildirim & Correia (2015), behavioral emotion regulation questionnaire (BERQ) of Kraaij & Garnefski (2019) and University of California, Los Angeles- loneliness scale, version 3 (UCLA LS3) of Russell (1996) data was collected. Data were analyzed through Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling utilizing SPSS and AMOS software version 29. The results showed direct effect of maladaptive behavioral emotion regulation (β=0.65, sig=0.001) on nomophobia are significant. The results also showed that loneliness had a significant mediating role in the relationship between maladaptive behavioral emotion regulation (β=0.52, sig=0.001) with nomophobia. Also, the final research model had a good fit (RMSEA=0.05, SRMR=0.04). It can be concluded that by improving maladaptive behavioral emotion regulation strategies and reducing the level of loneliness with the help of psychologists and counselors, the nomophobia of female adolescents can be improved.
