Abstract

The Effectiveness of Families-and-Schools-Together Program on Family Cohesion, Expressiveness and Conflict of First Graders’ Parents in Tabriz

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of Families-and-Schools-Together program (FAST) on family cohesion, expressiveness and conflict of first graders’ parents in Tbriz. This study was based on a quasi-experimental research design. On the basis of purposive sampling, 40 families were selected and randomly assigned in two groups (20 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group). While the experimental group participated in the Families-and-Schools-Together program (FAST), the control group did not receive any treatment. the analysis of covariance showed a statistically significant increase in the experimental group’s family cohesion and expressiveness and a decrease in the family conflict scores (p < 0.05). It is concluded that participating in Families-and-Schools-Together program (FAST) can increase family cohesion and expressiveness and decrease family conflict.
