Effect of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Treatment on the Continuance of Caregiving Behaviors in Mothers of Children with Chronic Illness

Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction treatment on the continuance of caregiving behaviors in mothers of children with chonic illness. Therefore, using convenience sampling, 4 mothers of children with chronic physical illness were selected from Asadabadi hospital in Tabriz and were received mindfulness-based stress reduction treatment in 8 sessions twice a week (duration of each session was nearly 1 hour). The present study was a single-subject design with a single baseline. Caregiving behaviors inventory was used for data collection. For studying clinical significance, effects size and percent of improvement formula were applied. Consequently, results suggest the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction treatment on the improvement of caregiving behaviors.
