Prediction of Work-Family and Family-Work Conflict through Happiness at Work and Organizational Commitment

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to predict work-family and family-work conflict through happiness at work and organizational commitment in Mobarake’s Muhammad Rasulollah hospital in Isfahan. This study was conducted with a correlational method and study population was all of the employees of the mentioned hospital. Using convenience sampling, 161 subjects were selected. They were assessed by organizational commitment (Meyer& Allen) and happiness at work (Mehdad et al) and work-family conflict (Carlson et al). Data were analyzed by multiple regression method. The results showed that there were significant negative relationship between work-family and family-work conflict and effective commitment as well as happiness in workplace. In addition, there was significant positive relationship between affective commitment and happiness at work. Furthermore, results of multiple regression analysis showed that happiness at work. Furtheremore, results of multiple regression method showed that affective commitment could significantly predict family-work conflict and normative commitment, happiness at work as well as continuance commitment could significantly predict work-family conflict. Therefore, by increasing happiness at work and organizational commitment, work-family and family-work conflict could be reduced.
