Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the impact of time perspective program training on the cognitive emotion regulation and hope of mothers of children with intellectual disability. The present study was a quasi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test design and a control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of all mothers of children with intellectual disability in Isfahan city. The research sample included 30 mothers who were selected by the convenience sampling method and were randomly replaced to an experimental and a control group (15 in each group). Time perspective program training was implemented in 10 sessions for the experimental group, while the control group didn't participate in this intervention. Data collected using the Garnefski and Kraaij Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2006) and the Miller and Powers Hope Scale (1988). The research data were analyzed with the multivariate and univariate analysis of covariance test. The results indicated that the time perspective program training in the post-test stage had a positive and significant impact on cognitive emotion regulation and hope in mothers of children with intellectual disability (p<0.001). As a result, planning to time perspective program training plays an important role in cognitive emotion regulation and hope in mothers of children with intellectual disability. Therefore, this program can be used to increase the emotion regulation and hope of parents.
