Abstract

The aim of this study was to predict social anxiety in boy adolescents based on their emotional schemas with an emphasis on the mediating role of resilience. The present study design was a structural equation correlation. The statistical population of the present study included all male high school students in Fin Hormozgan in the academic year 2022-2023. In this study, 270 people were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling. Watson & Friend Social Anxiety Scale (SAD, 1996), Leahy's Emotional Schema Scale (ESS-P, 2002), and Conner and Davidson's Resilience Scale (CD-RIS, 2003) questionnaires were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using the structural equation method using the Pearson correlation coefficient test and AMOS software version 22. The findings obtained from the statistical analysis of the data showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between negative emotional schemas and social anxiety. Also, a negative and significant relationship was found between resilience and social anxiety, but there was no significant relationship between positive emotional schemas and social anxiety. Also, there was an indirect relationship between positive and negative emotional schemas and social anxiety through resilience. As a result, resilience as a mediating variable moderates the relationship between social anxiety and emotional schemas.
