The effectiveness of storytelling on aggression, anxiety and social fear in children with obsessive-compulsive disorder

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of story therapy on aggression, anxiety and social fear in children with coping disobedience disorder with one month follow-up. The research design was quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test and follow-up with control group. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all female students with confrontational disobedience disorder who were studying in Tabriz schools in the academic year of 2019-2020. After screening, 40 students with higher scores on the confrontational disobedience scale. Were obtained, selected, and randomly assigned to two groups of 20 individuals. For data collection, Shahim Aggression Questionnaire, Spence et al.'s Anxiety Questionnaire and Masia et al.'s Social Fear Questionnaire were used. Analysis of covariance and repeated measures test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that story therapy has an effect on aggression, anxiety and social fear in students with confrontational disobedience disorder and reduces aggression, anxiety and social fear in them. The results also showed that the effectiveness of story therapy on aggression, anxiety and social fear is stable. Paying attention to story therapy can play an important role in improving children's psychological problems.
