The Effectiveness of Spirituality Therapy Based on Communication Skills on Drug Craving, Life expectancy and Psychological well-being of drug addicts

Abstract

This study was intendedn to investigate the impact of communicational skills based spirituality therapy on the consumption greed of drugs, hope and psychological well-being of treated drug addicts. This study was a semi-experimental study based on pre-posttests group and control group. Population consisted of addicts referred to addiction retreat camp of Dedaye Omid (N=40) who 30 addict were selected among them randomly and were grouped in two groups including experimental group (15) and control group (15). In this study, three standard questionnaires were used to measure data including greedy use of drugs of Fdardi materials, Bafrafan and Ziaee (2008), Snider et.al. (1991) hope questionnaire and Ryff (1995) psychological well-being questionnaire Results showed that spiritual therapy positively and significantly impacted on greedy use of drugs, hope to life and its components and psychological well-being and its components. Psychologists and counselors in the field of addiction treatment can use spiritual therapy as a complementary treatment in the treatment of addiction and preventing temptation and relapse.
