Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of emotion therapy on cognitive emotion regulation and self-criticism of adolescent girls experiencing parental divorce mourning. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test and was applied in terms of purpose and cross-sectional in terms of time. The statistical population of the present study was 16-14 years old girls from divorced families living in Tehran in 1398 and the sampling method was purposeful and based on the criteria, 30 people were selected as a sample and in two experimental groups (15 people). And control group (15). Data collection tools in this study, three standard questionnaires of cognitive emotion regulation Garnfsky et al. (2001), Hogan et al. (2001) mourning list and Thompson Vazurov (2004) self-critical levels were used. The results showed that emotion-based therapy is effective on emotional cognitive regulation and self-criticism of adolescent girls with parental divorce mourning experience. In fact, emotion therapy improves the cognitive regulation of emotion and self-criticism in adolescents. Therefore, emotion-oriented therapy has an important role in increasing cognitive emotion regulation and reducing self-criticism in adolescents.
