Abstract

The aim of the present study was the determination of the efficiency of Cognitive -Behavioral therapy (CBT) on Dysfunctional cognitions in individuals with Obsessive - compulsive disorder (OCD) Symptoms. Regarding the aim, 30 individuals with Obsessive - compulsive disorder (OCD) Symptoms using random sampling method selected and arranged into two groups (examine and control group each 15 person). The efficiency of the intervention evaluated in pretest - posttest and one - month follows up. In order to evaluate the symptoms of Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) , Semi - structured diagnostic interview, a Structured Clinical Interview for DSM - IV Axis I Disorders (SCID - I) , and the Obsessive Beliefs Questionnaire 44 questions (44 - OBQ) were used. The analysis of data showed that cognitive - behavioral therapy was effective in reducing Dysfunctional cognitions in individuals with OCD symptom. The results showed that posttest scores reduced in all variables. In fact, reduction in scores of Dysfunctional cognitions indicates the effectiveness of the intervention. In addition, results showed that the Cognitive - Behavioral therapy (CBT) could significantly reduce the components of responsibility, perfectionism, importance and controlling thoughts. The results showed that for the studied groups in the component of sense of responsibility / assessment of risk and threat )sig =0.139, f =4.52 (perfectionism / need to gain confidence and certainty )sig=0.158 and f=5.26( and the importance and control of thoughts )sig=0.179, f=6.12( are significant. Also, the effect of group × time is significant (sig=0.001, f = 66.91).
