The effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Coping Styles and Perceived Stress in infertile women

Abstract

Infertility ‌can cause several psychological problems in the lives of couples and marital problems for these people. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on Coping Styles and Perceived Stress in infertile women. Method This study was of a semi-experimental type with pre-test post-test with control group. For the present study, the population consisted of all infertile women aged 20 to 45 years old in bahman hospital west town Tehran, and 30 of them ‌ were selected using convenient sampling method and placed in two groups of 15 subjects each (experimental and control). Research tools included Perceived Stress Scale by Cohen and et al (1983) and Coping Strategies Inventory by Lazarus and Folkman (1988). The data were analyzed using Spss-20 softwar and covariance analysis. The findings indicated that Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on experimental group’s scores of perceived stress and coping styles was effective and significant (P≤ 0.001). The results show that acceptance and commitment therapy to Improvement the Coping styles and reduce Perceived stress was effectiveness in Infertility women. It is recommended that this treatment counselors, Therapists and consultants in Treatment centers and education classes in order to solve their psychologist problems infertile women and boost productivity.
