Predicting Quality of Life Based on the Positive and Negative Dimensions of Self-Compassion in Female-Headed Households: The Mediating Role of Psychological Empowerment.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of life and the positive and negative dimensions of self-compassion mediated by psychological empowerment in female-headed households. The method of this study was correlational path analysis. The statistical population of this study was female-headed households in the west of Tehran, from which a sample of 285 people were selected by simple random sampling. Participants responded to the WHO Quality of Life Scale - Short Form, Nef Self-Compassion, and Spritzer Psychological Empowerment. The obtained data were analyzed using path analysis method with SPSS software version 26 and Amos version 21. Findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between positive dimensions of self-compassion and quality of life, there is a negative and significant relationship between negative dimensions of self-compassion and quality of life and also there is a positive and significant relationship between psychological empowerment and quality of life. The results also showed that psychological empowerment can play a mediating role between the positive dimensions of self-compassion and quality of life. But its mediating role between the negative dimensions of self-compassion and quality of life was not confirmed. According to the findings, psychological empowerment training through recognizing and enhancing the abilities of women heads of households and also the indirect effect that through positive dimensions of self-compassion on improving the quality of life of women heads of households, plays an important role in improving quality of life. It has women heads of households.
