The purpose of present research was to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral group therapy on decreasing of irrational beliefs in students. The research procedure was quasi _experimental with pretest_ posttest and control group design. Population was male students of boarding high school in Tarom district of Gazvin province. Sample group consisted of 16 student that were randomly selected and allocated into experimental and control groups. Instruments were Jones irrational inventory. The experimental group participated in 8 session cognitive behavioral group therapy, while the control group was not received any treatment. T_ test result of pretest and posttest revealed that there is a significant difference (p<0/05) between groups, so that cognitive behavioral group therapy helps to decrease irrational beliefs in total scale and the subscales of blame proneness, anxious over concern, dependency, and helplessness for change.
