The research method was descriptive and correlational. The study population consisted of all Iranian students aged 18-30 in 2024, from whom a sample of 400 individuals was selected voluntarily. Data was collected using the Young (1994) Schema Questionnaire-Short Form, the Downey and Feldman (1996) Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire, and the Baqerzanjani (2015) Depression Symptom Checklist. Data analysis was done using Pearson correlation statistical tests and structural equation modeling. The results showed that the model predicting atypical depression based on early maladaptive schemas in the Domain of Cut and Rejection, mediated by interpersonal rejection sensitivity, had a good fit. The direct effect of interpersonal rejection sensitivity and the indirect effect of early maladaptive schemas<strong> </strong>in the Domain of Cut and Rejection through rejection sensitivity on atypical depression were also confirmed. According to the findings of this study, early maladaptive schemas in the domains of Cut<strong> </strong>and Rejection and Interpersonal rejection sensitivity are likely to be influential factors in the development of atypical depression. Therefore, attention to these factors can guide clinicians in developing specific treatment plans for this disorder.
