Objective: The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of mindfulness and transcranial direct current stimulation on cognitive flexibility, rumination and worry in students with depressive symptoms.<br />Method: This research accomplished with semi-experimental method with a three-group including mindfulness, transcranial direct current stimulation treatment and control groups in three stages of pre-test, post-test and follow-up.The statistical population of this research consisted of all the students of University of Zanjan in the academic year of 1400-1401. 400 students fulfilled the Beck depression online questionnaire and among whose score was average or higher than average, 45 persons randomly selected and randomly assigned to one of three groups (each group 15 participants). Then in two experimental groups respective treatmenta implemented. No treatment implemented in control group. After ending treatment sessions and again two months after, post-test and follow up were accomplished. The data was analyzed by multivariate covariance analysis (mancova) and using spss26.<br />Results: The results showed that mindfulness therapy and transcranial direct current stimulation treatment reduced depression, worry and rumination scores and increased cognitive flexibility at post-test, but in the follow-up, the effectiveness of mindfulness on depression, rumination, and worry was more than transcranial direct current stimulation. However, the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation in the follow-up on increasing cognitive flexibility was more than mindfulness.<br />Conclusion: The results showed that both treatment methods were effective in reducing depression symptoms, but their effectiveness was different; Therefore, paying attention to the specific symptoms and complaints of depressed patients should be taken into consideration in choosing an effective treatment.
