The aim of this study was investigation of working memory capacity of bilingual and monolingual children. For this purpose 60 (30 girls and 30 boys) bilingual and 60 (30 girls and 30 boys) monolingual children from third grade students of public schools in Tehran and Zanjan were selected randomly and tested by forward, backward, Corsi, Counting span and stroop tasks. Data analysis with two way ANOVA and T-test indicated that bilingual children outperformed monolinguals in the backward, Corsi, Counting span and stroop tasks, but not difference was found in the forward span task. Also sex differences wasn’t found in working memory tasks except that the monolingual girls outperformed in the forward task than monolingual boys. The results showed that bilingual children in the central executive and visual-spatial sketchpad were better than monolingual peers but further research is needed about the phonological loop that no differences wasn't found between two groups. In addition, both sexes have the same working memory capacity and gender had not meaning role in this area.

The aim of this research was comparing the emotion regulation strategies and mindfulness in students with and without obsessive believes. The sample in this study consists of 291 participants which were selected through cluster sampling method. From these amount, 71 participants did have pathological obsessive believes. The normal group people were matched with the abnormal group considering sex, age and educational fields. Participants were asked to complete the emotion regulation and Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaires (FFMQ). Data was analyzed through multiple analyses of variance (MANOVA). The result revealed that two groups have significant difference in subscales of suppression and reappraising of emotion regulation strategies. Also two groups had significant differences in mindfulness and subscales of acting with awareness, non reaction to inner experience and no judgment to inner experience.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relations of locus of control, rumination, and worry with depression and anxiety in a sample of students. A second purpose of the study was to examine mediating effect of rumination and worry on the relationship between locus of control with depression and anxiety. One hundred and fifty four students (88 females, 66 males) from the University of Tehran participated in this study. All participants were asked to complete Rotter΄s Locus of Control Scale (RLCS), Response Styles Scale (RSS), Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The results revealed significant correlations between locus of control with depression (p<0.05) and anxiety (p<0.05). Significant correlations were also found between rumination and worry with depression (p<0.01) and anxiety (p<0.01). Rumination and worry mediated the relationship between locus of control with depression and anxiety. Fitness of the proposed model was confirmed by indices of the GFI, the CFI, and the REMSA. On the basis of the results of the present study it can be concluded that the relation of locus of control with depression and anxiety is not a simple one but is mediated by other variables such as rumination and worry.

This investigation aims to study the parenting styles role on predicting early maladaptive schema in Young schema model. In this regard, 235 Tabriz university students (male and female) were randomly selected to fill in two questionnaires of young Parenting Inventory (YPI) and short form young schema. The variables were studied based on Jeffrey Young theory frame work. Using the regression analysis the results showed that parenting styles is a good prediction for five fields, except other-directedness, maladaptive schemas in two fields of Disconnection-Rejection and Impaired autonomy and performance.

The present study was conducted in order to compare the impact of both metacognitive therapy (MCT) and problem solving therapy (PST) on the social anxiety (SAD) of female student Urmia in city. In this regard, 300 individuals from Urmia University were investigated via kanor social-anxiety questionnaire, then, those who their anxiety score outnumbered the mean by Standard Deviation of 2, were sorted out to be double checked through the social anxiety checklist. 30 individuals showing SAD were put randomly into three groups (two groups as the experimental and one group as the control). Both methods were carried out on the experimental group, and they were tested again by the questionnaires. To analyze the data, t-test and co-variance analysis were used. The results showed a significant difference between the scores of both of the experimental groups with those of control groups. Therefore, MCT and PST were effective on the reduction of students' social anxiety. Scores difference average of pre-test and post-test of MCT and PST groups is significant on the physiological symptom.

The aim of the present research was to study validity and reliability of the behavioral inhibition system (BIS) and behavioral activation system (BAS) scale. To this purpose, two sample 326 students (for validity study) and 30 students (for reliability study) took part in the research from different department of Tabriz University. Test-retest reliability BIS/BAS scale measured by Pearson correlation coefficient between twice test in 2-weeks interval BIS/BAS scale in 30 students. This results for BIS scale was 0.78, for subscales of BAS namely reward responsiveness was 0.82, drive 0.75, and fun seeking 0.86. For Internal consistency of BIS/BAS scale used Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient for BIS scale was 0.62, for subscales of BAS reward responsiveness, drive, and fun seeking were 0.68, 0.74 and 0.65 respectively. The concurrent validity of BIS/BAS scale shown that significant positive correlation between BIS scale and BDI, Neuroticism, STAIT, and negative affect. Also, the results shown that significant positive correlation between BAS scale and Positive affect and Extraversion. In sum, the results of this study shown that the BIS/BAS scale could be used in psychological research and clinical assessment in Iran.

The aim of the present study is to examine the effect of teaching teachingNeuro-Linguistic Programming on couples’ marital adaptation referring to consultation centers in Isfahan. The research method was quasi-experimental, so 30 couples referred to consultation center were selected through voluntary method and were put into two groups via random assignment method (one control and one experimental group). The experimental group was received teaching teachingNeuro-Linguistic Programming by the researcher. The research instrument in this study was Spider’s marital status questionnaire. The data analysis was carried out in two descriptive and inferential levels. The comparison of mean scores of marital adaptation posttest in mentioned groups and the scores of analysis of covariance in marital adaptation test indicated that there is a significant difference between experimental and control groups regarding all subscales of marital adaptation. In general, the results of the study showed that the marital adaptation would increase through the effect of teaching NLP.

This study examined the factor structure, reliability and validity of inventory of maternal attachment (IMA) in a sample of Iranian students in which 402 people were selected by random cluster sampling technique. To determine reliability, internal consistency, construct validity and factor structure of the questionnaire, exploratory principal components analysis was used. The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the original factor structure did not fit on the sample data. Exploratory factor analysis supported the two-factor solution. Overall, both "trust and communication" and "alienation" could explain 57% variance of the questionnaire. We obtained alpha coefficients for the "alienation”, "communication and trust” 0.78 and 0.93 respectively. The results about concurrent validity of IMA showed that there was positive correlation between the social competence of students and a positive attachment of parents (trust), but between social competence and negative parental attachment (alienation) was a negative relationship. The results of convergent validity showed that the subscales of IMA were positively correlated with components of Parent and Peer Attachment (P<0.05). In general, IMA was found to be valid and reliable a self-report measure of maternal attachment styles. We suggest that IMA has both clinical and research utility.
